Inspired Prophetic Warnings To All Inhabitants of the Earth

DESTROYING ANGELS ARE ACTIVE

By President Wilford Woodruff

I refer to these things because I know not how long I may have the privilege of bearing my testimony of the Gospel of Christ on the earth. The revelations that are in the Bible, the predictions of the patriarchs and prophets who saw by vision and revelation the last dispensation and fullness of times plainly tell us what is to come to pass. The 49th chapter of Isaiah is having its fulfillment. I have often said in my teachings, if the world wants to know what is coming to pass, let them read the revelations of St. John. Read of the judgments of God that are going to overthrow the world in the last dispensation. Read the papers and see what is taking place in our own nation and in the nations of the earth, and what does it all mean? It means the commencement of the fulfillment of what the prophets of God have predicted. In the Doctrine and Covenants there are many revelations given through the mouth of the prophet of God; these revelations will all have the fulfillment, as the Lord lives, and no power can hinder it. In one of the revelations the Lord told Joseph Smith: "Behold, Verily I say unto you, the angels are crying unto the Lord day and night, who are ready and waiting to be sent forth to reap down the fields.

"I want to bear testimony to this congregation, and to the heavens and the earth, that the day is come when those angels are privileged to go forth and commence their work. They are laboring in the United States of America; they are laboring among the nations of the earth; and they will continue. We need not marvel or wonder at anything that is transpiring in the earth. The world does not comprehend the revelations of God. They did not in the days of the Jews; yet all that the prophets had spoken concerning them came to pass. So in our day these things will come to pass. I heard the Prophet Joseph bear his testimony to these events that would transpire in the earth

We cannot draw a veil over the events that await this generation. No man that is inspired by the Spirit and power of God can close his ears, his eyes or his lips to these things.

A GREAT TEST COMING

By Heber C. Kimball

The judgments of God will be poured out upon the wicked to that extent that our Elders from far and near will be called home, or, in other words, the Gospel will be taken from the Gentiles and later on will be carried to the Jews. The western boundaries of the state of Missouri will be swept so clean of its inhabitants that as President Young tells us, when we return to that place there will not be so much as a yellow dog to wag his tail. Before that day comes, however, the Saints will be put to the test that will try the best of them. The pressure will be so great that the righteous among us will cry unto the Lord day and night until deliverance comes. Then is the time to look out for the great sieve for there will be a great sifting time and many will fall. This Church has before it many close places through which it will have to pass before the work of God is crowned with glory. You can not endure on borrowed light. Each will have to be guided by the light within themselves. If you do not have a knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, how can you stand? Do you believe it?

THE WATERS ALSO TO DESTROY

"Behold, there are many dangers upon the waters, and more especially hereafter; for I, the Lord, have decreed in mine anger many destructions upon the waters; yea, and especially upon these waters; nevertheless, all flesh is in mine hand, and he that is faithful among you shall not perish by the waters; Behold, I the Lord, in the beginning blessed the waters, but in the last days, by the mouth of my servant John, I cursed the waters. Wherefore the days will come when no flesh will be safe upon the waters. And it shall be said in the days to come that none are able to go up to the land of Zion upon the waters, but he that is upright in heart. I, the Lord, have decreed, and the destroyer rideth upon the face thereof, and I revoke not the decree." (D. & C. 61:4-6, 14-16, 19)

MANY WILL LONG FOR THEIR MOUNTAIN HOME

(A prophecy made by President J. Golden Kimball, of the First Council of Seventy, at a meeting held in the San Francisco L. D. S. chapel, March 16, 1924.)

"I prophesy that before many of you go to the other side you will have a burning desire in your hearts to return to the places where the leaders of the Church have counseled the Saints to settle, and you will give anything in the world to be able to live there."

WHY JUDGMENTS? THE DIVINE PURPOSE.

"And what is the purpose--the ultimate purpose of it all? Destruction? No, a thousand times no, except insofar as destruction must at times precede reconstruction, and it is necessary to preserve what is worth preserving. The world's welfare is the object in view. God's wrath however fiercely it burns, is not comparable to the petty human anger. His work and His glory is "To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man," and if, in the process He uses the powers of destruction as well as the powers of construction--for "all power" is his, "in heaven and in earth"---it is because such a course is necessary and is for the best. However severe his chastisements, we can rest assured of this: Hatred of humanity has no place in the heart of him who "so loved the world" that he "gave his only begotten Son" to save it from eternal damnation."

WHY CALAMITIES COME

Calamities do not come upon the world merely to scourge the wicked and avenge the wrongs of the righteous. The primal aim of divine punishment is to purify, and if possible save those upon whom the "Great Avenger" lays a chastening hand. The object is to bring sinners to repentance, to throw down the barriers that prevent men from coming to Christ, and turn into the upward path those who are bent upon pursuing the downward road. The gospel saves all who are willing to be saved, and who show their willingness by their obedience, their faith by their works. It also aims to save the unwilling and the disobedient--here if possible, and if not here, then hereafter. Wars and other woes are sent to put a stop to men's evil practices, lest they add sin to sin and pile up guilt to their greater condemnation. To be swept off the earth and ministered to in the spirit world, is not the worst fate that can be-all the wicked. Omnipotence wields the powers of destruction in such a way as to make of them instruments of salvation. It may seem cruel, but in reality, it is kind."

RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL YET RULE ALL NATIONS

By President Brigham Young (Remarks made in the City of Joseph, April 6, 1845.)

"The saints will increase, and continue to increase, and virtue, love, holiness and all good principles, will continue to spread and spread, and will rule the nations of the earth, and who is there that can stop its progress? None, but it will roll until there is no room for the devil; then he will be bound and shut up. The principles of the kingdom of God will prevail, from city to city, from nation to nation, until the devil shall be bound and there is no place for him. They killed the prophet Joseph for fear he would spread this principle, but it will go and fill the whole earth; this is true and will come to pass as the Lord lives. Amen."

OUR HEAVEN-INSPIRED CONSTITUTION

"And again I say unto you, those who have been scattered by their enemies, it is my will that they should continue to importune for redress, and redemption by the hands of those who are placed as rulers and are in authority over you -- According to the laws and Constitution of the people, which I have suffered to be established, and should be maintained for the rights and protection of all flesh, according to just and holy principles." "That every man may act in doctrine and principle pertaining to futurity, according to the moral agency which I have given unto him, that every man may be accountable for his own sins in the day of judgment. "Therefore, it is not right that any man should be in bondage one to another. "And for this purpose have I established the Constitution of this land, by the hands of wise men whom I raised up unto this very purpose, and redeemed the land by the shedding of blood." (D. & C. 101:76-80)

"Have mercy, O Lord, upon all the nations of the earth; have mercy upon the rulers of our land; may those principles which were so honorably and nobly defended, namely, the Constitution of our land, by our fathers, be ESTABLISHED FOREVER." (D. & C. 109:54)

TEACHINGS OF THE PROPHET JOSEPH SMITH

-- Letter of Benjamin F. Johnson to George S. Gibbs.

"He taught us that the Saints would fill the great west, and thru Mexico and Central and South America we would do a great work for the redemption of the remnant of Jacob, and he taught us relating to the kingdom of God as it would become organized upon the earth thru "all nations learning war no more," and all adopting the God-given Constitution of the United States as a paladium of liberty and equal rights."

TEACHINGS OF BRIGHAM YOUNG ON CONSTITUTION

When the day comes in which the Kingdom of God will bear rule, the flag of the United States will proudly flutter unsullied on the flag staff of liberty and equal rights without a spot to sully its fair surface; and the glorious flag our fathers have bequeathed to us will then be unfurled to the breeze by those who have power to hoist it aloft and defend its sanctity. -- Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2, p. 317.
